A man is facing a murder count after fatally shooting one of two teens who were firing a gun near his house early today, according to Henderson Police.

The 17-year-old youths had been firing a stolen gun about 12:50 a.m. near the 1600 block of Meadow Bluffs Avenue, police said.

Edward Croaker, 44, called 911 saying he had seen two males shooting “at the rear” of his house, so he returned fire, police said. He told an operator he thought he hit one of them, police said.

Officers found the teens nearby, behind a business in the 1600 block of West Sunset Road, near Arroyo Grande Boulevard, police said. One of them was dead, police said.

Croaker was being held at the Henderson Detention Center on $150,000 bond, according to jail records.

The Clark County Coroner's Office will release the name of the teen who was killed, pending notification of family, officials said.

The investigation was ongoing, police said.
