The Doobie Brothers open a mini-residency at the Venetian this weekend.

Finally, the winter weekend we’ve all been waiting for has arrived, when “The Spongebob Musical” and Major League Rugby converge in Las Vegas. OK, maybe those unique entertainment options aren’t your bag, but there’s some fantastic music being played this weekend as well.

THE DOOBIE BROTHERS Foreigner just completed a classic rock run at the timelessly appointed Venetian Theatre and now it’s the Doobies’ turn, opening an eight-concert series Friday night. Expect to hear “Black Water,” “What a Fool Believes” and the many other memorable hits that make up this legendary band’s catalog. February 7-8, info at venetian.com.

NEIL SEDAKA The pop songwriter known for “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” and “Love Will Keep Us Together” is back in town and was spotted attending “Absinthe” at Caesars Palace Wednesday night. Neil Sedaka takes two turns on the stage at the Orleans Showroom this weekend. February 7-8, info at orleanscasino.com.

THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL The New York Times called it “exhaustively imaginative and perversely brilliant,” which makes us think “The Spongebob Musical” (recommended for ages 5 and older) should be playing in Las Vegas all year long. It wraps up its Reynolds Hall run this weekend, so catch it while you can. February 7-9, info at thesmithcenter.com.

GWEN STEFANI There are only 15 more shows left to see when it comes to Gwen Stefani’s “Just A Girl” headlining residency at Zappos Theater at the Planet Hollywood Resort, and the seven shows scheduled this month start on Saturday night. After that, you’ll have to wait until May. February 8, info at caesars.com.

MAJOR LEAGUE RUGBY Big-time rugby is back at Sam Boyd Stadium Sunday when the New England Free Jacks play their inaugural MLR match against Rugby United New York. Major League Rugby Vegas Weekend continues with more action February 15 and 16. February 9, info at unlvtickets.com.
