The American Hockey League team in Henderson is coming together. We knew where they would practice, and now we know where they will play.

A new AHL arena will be built at the Henderson Pavilion site, Golden Knights President Kerry Bubolz said today, speaking at the Henderson State of the City address at Green Valley Ranch. Team Chairman and CEO Bill Foley confirmed the team name will include “Henderson.”

Henderson Pavilion is on Green Valley Parkway just south of the 215 Beltway. It is an open-air theater but will soon house a 6,000-seat arena for the to-be-named Henderson AHL team. The team has already secured more than 5,300 season ticket deposits, Bubolz said.

“This facility will give our fans the same electric jolt of the excitement and experience that you see at the Fortress for Golden Knights games on the Strip,” Bubolz said, referencing T-Mobile Arena. “When we build this facility, it will be world-class.”

The Golden Knights’ practice facility and headquarters is at City National Arena in Summerlin, and they play their home games on the Strip.

Last summer, the organization started construction on Lifeguard Arena in Henderson, a two-sheet facility in downtown Henderson, that will be the practice facility and headquarters of the new AHL team.

The Golden Knights announced last week that they had purchased the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage. The purchase and relocation is still subject to AHL Board of Governors approval, though that is not expected to be an issue.

The Golden Knights announced Wednesday that the AHL team will play its home games at Orleans Arena until the new facility at the Henderson Pavilion is complete.

“Bill, we’re thrilled with the vision that you and the Golden Knights have for the city of Henderson,” Henderson Mayor Debra March told Foley.

No timetable was given for the completion of the new arena, nor how it will be funded.
