Five Desert Pines players scored in double figures on Friday in a 78-54 victory against Legacy in the Mountain Region quarterfinals.

Anthony Swift had 16 points and nine rebounds, Dayshawn Wiley contributed 16 points and seven rebounds, and Milos Uzan had 17 points, six assists and five rebounds. Desert Pines, after winning the Northeast League championship, has eyes on a bigger prize: the regional and state titles.

“I like where we are at,” coach Mike Uzan said. “We are playing well, and it’s the right time to be playing well.”

Desert Pines jumped out to an early lead on Legacy, but the Longhorns didn’t go down without a fight, coach Uzan said.

“They gave us a good game. It was a scrappy game by them,” the coach said.

Darnell Washington, the five-star football recruit, poured in 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. Cimarron Conriquez had a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
