Extravaganza” opens at Bally’s Jubilee Theatre in March.

It was only a couple weeks ago that I was roaming around Bally’s Las Vegas, exploring the casino before catching “Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream” upstairs in the Magic Attic. I kept walking by the Jubilee Theatre and couldn’t stop thinking about what might happen next at this classic showroom, which has seen a few different productions and headliners but nothing steady since the iconic “Jubilee!” closed its 35-year run in February 2016.

Now we know what’s next. The creators of “WOW” at the Rio are bringing “Extravaganza: The Vegas Spectacular” to the Jubilee Theatre starting on March 14. Its schedule is set for 7 p.m. nightly except Wednesday with an additional 9 p.m. show Saturday and tickets, ranging from $50 to $110, are on sale now.

“Following the success of ‘WOW’ and the way the city embraced the show, I am thrilled to bring ‘Extravaganza’ to Las Vegas,” said creator Hanoch Rosénn. “The show is my homage to this amazing city, bringing not only tremendous and unique performers from all over the world, but also some of the most iconic and thrilling acts, as well as the return of the classic showgirls who made the Jubilee Theatre home for so many decades.”

“Extravaganza,” produced by T&R Entertainment and Tevet Productions, is similar to “WOW” as a variety show that makes use of huge LED screens to create different scenery and performance environments. The cast of more than 30 artists includes dancers, acrobats, aerialists, skaters, ventriloquists and traditional showgirls, and hologram presentations will feature tributes to entertainment legends like Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe. “Extravaganza” will also mark the return of the “Globe of Death” motorcycle stunt act, an interesting development considering a “Nitro Circus” motocross stunt show was previously planned for this theater.

More show news this week:

In case you missed it, head on over to Las Vegas Weekly’s website for a complete rundown of the new season of the Smith Center’s Broadway Las Vegas Series, announced this week. It’s got everything from classic musicals to serious plays, plus Cher.

This year’s One Night for One Drop fundraising event will now feature the Las Vegas debut of “The Illusionists” at the R.U.N Theater at Luxor on March 27. The eighth annual gala event was previously planned to showcase a performance of the venue’s resident show, “R.U.N” produced by Cirque du Soleil. “We felt that the opportunity to secure a unique performance of this remarkable show was more in keeping with the one-night-only theme that has made this event so special,” said Alexandre Meunier, vice president of the One Drop Foundation. “’The Illusionists’ has dazzled audiences on Broadway and around the world and we’re beyond thrilled that it will make its Las Vegas debut at One Night for One Drop.” All proceeds raised during the event will directly benefit the organization’s mission to ensure access to safe water in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities in addition to supporting local water initiatives in Southern Nevada and tickets are on sale at onedrop.org/onenight.

The Comedy Works at the Plaza is kicking into high gear with a new slate of stand-ups.
