President Donald Trump is highly motivated to get the country back on a normal footing when it is safe to do so.
His instincts are to return the United States to normalcy as soon as possible. Members of the coronavirus task force who are advising Trump have a severely risk-averse attitude toward this disease. They are bureaucrats who seek to cross all the “Ts” and are more in tune with the status quo that is opposed to the use of novel drug treatments, even though proven safe.
On the other hand, Trump is the leader of the country and seeks to restore hope and confidence and the expectation of a return to normalcy. As such, the president must play a balancing act as a leader, given that the bureaucrats who advise him are locked into their statistics and frozen in place.
I am glad that Trump is a person of action and seeks a positive path to follow in restoring this country to normal as soon as it is safely possible.
