The Oakland A’s are considering the Tropicana resort property on the Las Vegas Strip as a potential site for a new ballpark, according to a report today by CNBC, which cited several unnamed sources.

A spokeswoman for the A’s did not comment specifically on the Tropicana report, but said the team has narrowed its list of possible sites in Las Vegas to “three or four” options.

The Tropicana is owned and operated by Bally’s Corp., while the land under the resort is owned by a real estate investment trust called Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc.

Officials with Bally’s declined to comment.

The A’s, locked in a bitter battle with public officials over a possible new ballpark site in Oakland, Calif., have flirted with the idea of leaving the city the team has called home since 1968.

A’s President Dave Kaval has made multiple trips to Las Vegas this year to scout possible locations for a new ballpark.

Major League Baseball officials and A’s executives have long pushed for a new ballpark to replace the aging RingCentral Coliseum in Oakland. During past visits to Las Vegas, Kaval has said nearly two dozen sites were under consideration.

In July, the Oakland City Council approved a term sheet for a proposed $12 billion ballpark development, though the team indicated the deal fell short of its expectations.
