There are four reasons a school board votes to terminate a superintendent’s contract before it ends: 1) incompetence; 2) personal/professional differences; 3) salary and benefits; or 4) the school board finds a comparable replacement. Or a combination of the four.
There’s two reasons why a superintendent stays: 1) increase in salary and benefits; or 2) the board grovels. Or both.
We’ve seen the board grovel. Will Clark County School District Superintendent Jesus Jara request enhanced pay and benefits? He who laughs last, laughs best — and this is no laughing matter, except for the way the board handled it.
