In Sunday’s edition, columnist E.J. Dionne certainly showed an astute grasp of the obvious with his column, “Democrats aren’t fraidy cats anymore.”
Who exactly would Democrats have to fear? The deposed boogeyman Donald Trump? Conservatives? If the reports of declining ranks in the GOP are any indication, there’s no threat there even from the “closet conservative,” which harks back to the “closet Trump supporter” who — like Dracula — dare not let their convictions see the light of day lest they be burned up by censorship, cancellation and condemnation.
Now throw in a biased media — both print and social — and an investigative arm of the government that brings Sgt. Schultz to mind — “I see nothing, nothing” — and who’s left ? Not the uber rich or those wacky Hollywood types; they’re firmly on board.
Heck, if the FBI would put forth half the effort into investigating Biden and his son’s possible foreign shenanigans as it’s expending in bringing these insurrectionists to justice, it’s possible we could add China to the list of things that the Democrats feel they don’t have to fear anymore.
