A suspect has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a man in a central Las Vegas gas station parking lot, according to Metro Police.

Roderick Lee, 34, was booked Thursday at the Clark County Detention Center on a count of open murder, police said. A judge today ordered that he be held without bail, Las Vegas Justice Court logs show.

It wasn’t immediately clear how police identified Lee as a suspect, and additional details on his arrest were not provided.

The shooting happened about 3:35 a.m. on March 22 in the 400 block of South Valley View Boulevard, police said.

Kashif J. Brown, 24, drove up to a pump and started filling up his vehicle before going into the convenience store and buying a few items, police said.

Back at the pump, he was confronted by a man who shot him in what investigators believe was a random attempted robbery, Metro Lt. Ray Spencer said previously.

Surveillance cameras recorded the gunman and a female passenger pulling up to the convenience store in a car about 10 minutes before the shooting, and they appeared to be casing the store or its customers, Spencer said.

Brown, a father of three who was on his way to work, died from multiple gunshot wounds, Spencer said.

At a previous news conference, Brown’s mother, Maria Levi, described her son as “a good soul” who “didn’t deserve what he got.”
