A man was taken to a hospital with severe smoke inhalation after a house fire early this morning, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials said.
The fire was reported about 4 a.m. in the 5100 block of Meadow Rock Avenue, in the area of Decatur Boulevard and Tropical Parkway.
Heavy smoke was coming from the garage of the single-story house, officials said.
Firefighters were told two people escaped the blaze, but one was suffering smoke inhalation, officials said. The victim was taken to University Medical Center, officials said.
The fire started in the garage, but the cause has not been determined, officials said. The fire gutted the garage, with damage estimated at $75,000, officials said.
Firefighters from Las Vegas and North Las Vegas responded to the blaze.
