Kendric Thomas rushed for more than 200 yards and four touchdowns tonight and the Foothill football team opened class 5A play with a 42-20 win at Palo Verde.

Michael Gazzana added a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and also caught a 10-yard scoring strike from Cameron Paul in helping Foothill build a 42-6 advantage.

It was the second straight lopsided win for Foothill, whose lone loss was to defending state champion Liberty.

“The kids are pumped up. The are ready to play,” coach Vernon Brown said. “They really feel like they can compete with anybody.”

Two of Thomas' touchdowns were more than 50 yards. Christopher Razeeq had two interceptions to lead the Foothill defense. Kellen Robertus also had an interception.
