Why is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis establishing his own state-level CDC while saying the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did corrupt things in his state? As recently as 2021, DeSantis said COVID-19 vaccines had saved millions of lives.
It is clear that this governor is wasting his state’s money for purely political reasons. The anti-vaxx movement on the right is not only ludicrous, it is deadly. We have to estimate the number of lives saved by vaccines. We do not have to estimate the number of lives lost by the anti-vaxx movement. We only have to add up the number of people who lost their lives and who had refused to be vaccinated.
DeSantis wants the anti-vaxx vote in 2024. He had better hurry. These folks are still dying from their own stupidity, and may not be around to vote in that election.
