1 dead, 1 injured in central Las Vegas shooting

One man was fatally wounded and another was injured after a shooting in the central valley late Friday, according to Metro Police.

Officers responded about 9:30 p.m. to investigate a shooting that took place in the 1000 block of Sierra Vista Drive, near Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway, police said in a release. Arriving officers found a man lying in an alley suffering from a gunshot wound who was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Shortly after, officers were notified that another man transported himself to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with a gunshot wound, police said. The man remains hospitalized and suffered non-life-threatening wounds, police said.

Homicide detectives say the two victims were arguing with an unidentified Hispanic man when the suspect shot them both and fled on foot, police said.

The man who died will be identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, police said.
