A 24-year-old Las Vegas man died early this morning from injuries he received from a two-car collision in the southwest part of the city, Metro Police reported today.
Owen Martinez-Sanchez succumbed to injuries he received after being taken to University Medical Center, police said.
The driver of the other car, Shelby Mar, 71, was also taken to University Medical for moderate injuries, police said.
The collision occurred about 1:01 a.m. on South Durango Drive, about 100 feet south of West Oquendo Road, police said.
Evidence at the scene indicated that Martinez-Sanchez, who was driving a 2002 Acura south on Durango, was attempting to make a left turn into a business complex on the east side of Durango, police reported.
His car struck a Hyundai driven by Mar, which was traveling south on Durango, police said.
Police said it appears Martinez-Sanchez's failure to yield was the cause of the accident, but they are still investigating it.
