Search to continue for missing Lake Mead swimmer

Authorities planned to search again this morning for a man they think drowned in Lake Mead Saturday night while trying to help a woman who was also swimming.

The National Park Service reported they were first called about 7 p.m. Saturday that two people were having difficulty swimming at Six-Mile Cove on the Nevada side of Lake Mohave, south of Cottonwood Cove.

The woman had apparently been having trouble and the man went to help her, the NPS reported.

The woman made it back to shore and was taken by medical helicopter to Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, however the man could not be found, the NPS reported.

NPS rangers searched for the missing man until about 8:15 p.m., then suspended the search until this morning.
