Gibbons reappoints two river commissioners

Gov. Jim Gibbons today announced the reappointment of Marybel Batjer and Ace Robison to the Colorado River Commission.

"Both Marybel and Ace have done tremendous work protecting Nevada's assets on the Colorado River, and I'm glad they've both agreed to serve an additional term," the Governor said Thursday in a press release. "The work of the CRC is essential to protecting the future of Nevada."

The state commission acquires and manages the Nevada's share of water resources and hydropower from the Colorado River.

The commission also represents Nevada when managing the river with six other states and the federal government.

Batjer, who has served one term on the commission, is vice president of public policy and communications for Harrah's Entertainment.

Robison, who is also being appointed to a second full term, is chairman of the consulting firm Robison/Seidler. He previously had been chief of staff to U.S. Sen. Paul Laxalt.

Both appointments take effect July 1, 2008.
