Gibbons approves toll road proposal

(via KLAS Channel 8) · May 16, 2008 · 8:40 AM

The Nevada Transportation Board and its chairman, Gov. Jim Gibbons, backed a proposed plan to install toll lanes on some of Nevada's most crowded roadways Thursday.

According to a spokesman, because the toll lanes are "voluntary," the fee that comes with the installation of the toll lanes does not contradict Gibbons' anti-tax policy.

The toll lanes would be located on U.S. 95 to Interstate 15, I-15 to the Interstate 215 Beltway, and Summerlin Parkway to U.S. 95.

  1. I'm a little confused after reading this article.

Does this mean the existing "Free" lanes will remain open and available to travel and toll lanes will be added onto these roads?

Or, does it mean that the toll lanes are "voluntary" because we wouldn't HAVE to drive on these roads to get where we are going?

  2. Nuts!

  3. This is the first step down the road to the Libertarian paradise where government services are paid for only when used. We are on the way to having a class-based society where those who can afford the basics get them and those that can't will have to survive the best way they can.

What ever happened to "promote the GENERAL welfare"???
