What price performance?

For Boyd Gaming Corp., one of a few companies building ambitious developments on the Strip, having locked up at least $3 billion in long-term financing before the mortgage crisis hit is probably worth a nod or two from shareholders.

Bill Boyd, who retired as Chairman and Chief Executive in 2007, received total compensation of $5.9 million in his final year, most of that the $2.3 million he received in stock and option awards (the value of awards granted in 2007 rather than what the company reported for accounting purposes, which includes amounts for 2006). Boyd is now executive chairman.

Boyd also earned $1.7 million based on the company's performance last year on top of his $1.5 million salary.
