‘All-American country boy’ Rodney Atkins to perform in Henderson

A country music star is coming to Henderson. Friday night, Rodney Atkins will perform at the Henderson Pavilion at Liberty Pointe.

In 2006, Atkins earned the honor of Top New Male Vocalist from the Academy of Country Music. He has toured with Brad Paisley, Brooks & Dunn, Martina McBride and ZZ Top. He performed for former President Bush as well as at the National Memorial Day concert in Washington, D.C.

"We're excited to have country star Rodney Atkins be the first to open the Henderson Pavilion concert season," said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. "His wholesome music and attitude is sure to put a smile on people's faces."

Atkins has many credits to his name, including four No. 1 hits from his 2006 album "If You're Going Through Hell. " Reading his biography on his Web site, it seems that he's a friendly, down-to-earth kind of guy. He says he prefers ball caps to cowboy hats and that people have called him 'the All-American country boy.'

In his biography, Atkins comments on being labeled as a 'small town kind of guy,' but says that, "if the songs don't connect with the folks listening, then none of that stuff matters."

With song titles such as "It's America," "These Are My People," and "Invisibly Shaken," Atkins touches the hearts of Americans who are just trying to live their lives as best as they can.

And with tickets starting at only $15, citizens of Henderson can expect to have a great night with Rodney Atkins.
