How many presidents have played golf at Shadow Creek? Four!

Shadow Creek

Hole No. 9 at Shadow Creek Golf Course. So vast. So mysterious.

Today’s reported golf round at Shadow Creek Golf Course involving President Barack Obama, ex-Yankee Derek Jeter, Diamond Resorts International founder Stephen Cloobeck and Greenspun Media Group owner Brian Greenspun is not the first time a president has played the course.

Not by a long shot.

Obama is the fifth president to visit the uber-exclusive course and fourth to tee off. George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton have played the course. Jimmy Carter visited a few years back but did not play. George W. Bush actually keeps a locker at the Shadow Creek clubhouse.

In an interview in 2013, Shadow Creek General Manager Mark Brenneman remembered George W. Bush visiting the course less than a week after Osama bin Laden was killed. The 43rd president was in town for a speaking engagement centered on global economics. The round of golf was one of the perks in the offer that lured him to Las Vegas.

“They pay me a lot of money to do this,” Bush said to Brenneman. “And you might not have noticed this, Mark, but I’m not a great public speaker.”
