The legendary band that Carlos Santana reassembled in the studio is reuniting onstage, too.

The original Santana band featuring Gregg Rollie on keyboards, Neal Schon on guitar, Michael Carabello on percussion and Michael Shrieve on drums will perform March 21 at House of Blues in Mandalay Bay for a DVD recording centered on the release of “Santana IV.” That album is a long-awaited sequel to “Santana III,” issued in 1973.

The show will be recorded for an upcoming TV special and DVD release. Tickets are $29.95 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are available at HouseofBlues.com/Santana, MandalayBay.com and Ticketmaster.com and by calling (800) 745-3000.

A news release issued today says the band is to perform a “musical journey” covering the first three Santana albums and also rolling out new songs from “Santana IV.”

The new album was recorded in Henderson at Odds On Studio in 2014 and 2015. Musicians playing on the release also include Santana members Karl Perazzo on percussion and Benny Rietveld on bass. Santana was joined on two songs by the great vocalist Ronald Isley of The Isley Brothers.

The House of Blues show is the only scheduled concert for this Santana lineup, although the legendary guitarist has mused about organizing a U.S. tour with his reunited band.

“There are very few bands from the ’60s and ’70s that can come back with this kind of energy,” Santana said in today’s news release. “So I think we achieved something very rare. This music was screaming to come out of us. It wasn’t about nostalgia. It was about passion.”

Added Schon: “Carlos and I feel more connected than ever. We get super-aggressive when we play, but also melodic and poetic. We have a dialogue with each other on our guitars, and that allows us to do one-take solos and just blow each other away.”
