Monte Carlo will re-open next Friday

Two weeks after a rooftop fire forced the evacuation of the Monte Carlo, its owners have just announced the 3,002-room hotel will reopen next Friday. The fire was accidentally ignited by welders installing a rooftop walkway, when hot metal fell onto the roof and spread to the building’s façade. County authorities are investigating whether to cite the contractor for alleged safety violations. See above and to the right for MGM Mirage's re-opening announcement.
