Rain, winds spread over Valley (UPDATED)

A trace of rain has been recorded at McCarran International Airport and a 50 mph wind gust in North Las Vegas, but this afternoon's weather is only the beginning, the National Weather Service says.

Isolated showers pouring over the Spring Mountains west of the Las Vegas Valley began affecting the area shortly after 2 p.m., the weather service said.

Although lightning flashes could be seen, there have been no lightning strikes reported in the valley, forecasters say. Showers and wind are bringing in a cold front that will drop temperatures to the mid 80s for highs on Thursday.

McCarran Airport officials reported delays of up to 20 minutes because of microbursts.

Nevada Power Company is reporting three power outages in the Las Vegas Valley. Two blackouts have been reported in Henderson, including Green Valley Ranch hotel and casino, and one in North Las Vegas, Nevada Power spokeswoman Chelsea Campbell said. Crews believe that the outages may be weather-related due to thunderstorms in the area, she said.

Overnight winds could gust up to 60 mph, according to the weather service forecast. A wind advisory is in effect until 2 a.m. Thursday.

A warming trend is expected this weekend with temperatures reaching to the mid to upper 90s.
