Three schools dismiss students due to power outage

Three schools in the northeast area of the valley sent all their students home due to a power outage this morning.

Desert Pines High School, Global Community High School and Morris Behavior School closed classrooms after the three campuses lost all power, said Clark County School District spokesman Michael Rodriguez. School buses were called back to the campuses and about 3,300 students were sent home.

The three schools are all near the area of Pecos Road and Washington Avenue, Rodriguez said.

Nevada Power Company troubleshooters were dispatched to the area to determine the extent of the outage, Nevada Power spokesman Adam Grant said. The cause of the outage was still under investigation this morning.
