It was a surprise appearance that lasted less than 60 seconds, but it brought the house down! Entertainment legend Wayne Newton had just told his opening-night audience at his new show Once Before I Go at the Tropicana that he’d originally wanted to be a dancer more than a singer and promptly showed a series of video clips from his run on Season 5 of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars two years ago.
He was partnered then with professional two-time champion Cheryl Burke, and the lady herself waltzed onstage when the sequence ended! Cheryl stuck a fake mustache on Wayne, added a hat, and the two went into a dip that prompted cheers. Our contributing photographer Erik Kabik captured the exact moment.
Here’s our photo gallery from the red carpet premiere with everybody from Wheel of Fortune star Vanna White to The Price Is Right host and comedian Drew Carey to several DWTS beauties and hunks, including Edyta Sliwinska, Anna Trebunskaya, Jonathan Roberts and Alec Mazo, to the casts of Jersey Boys and Peepshow.
Stop the tresses!
Blonde beauty Holly Madison has shorn her locks and given herself an updated short hairstyle to show off her new line of head decorations she’ll be promoting! She was escorted by her co-star Josh Strickland while Aubrey O’Day took off to see Phantom -- The Las Vegas Spectacular for the first time. Fans of Holly will wonder how she’ll manage to cover a portion of her bare-breasted dance moves in Peepshow without the longer tresses a la Lady Godiva! (Perhaps wigs will now be added to the costume and wardrobe budget!)
Also attending Wayne’s premiere: the four Australian boys from Down Under who make up Human Nature, their Imperial Palace co-star Frank Marino, singer and musician Louis Prima Jr., Zowie Bowie and zany Luxor comic Carrot Top.
We’ll have quotes from Mr. Las Vegas himself and a few other anecdotes tomorrow. Meantime, enjoy the photos!
