Kevin Kruger in D-League finals

The season didn’t start so well for former UNLV guard Kevin Kruger, but he’s finishing it in the finals of the NBA Development League.

Kruger and the Utah Flash begin the best-of-three championship round Wednesday night when they play host to Colorado. The second game will be played Friday in Colorado, as will the third, on Monday, if necessary.

Kruger played in Bulgaria to start the season, but he bolted when his situation deteriorated in Europe. Finally released from that contract, he signed with Utah, where he played last season.

In 21 regular-season games, he averaged 30 minutes, 11.4 points and a team-high 4.4 assists and 1.38 steals. He shot a blistering 52.4 percent from 3-point range.

In the playoffs, he tallied a team-best 23 points and gave out 6 assists in a win against Bakersfield and had 13 points and 7 assists Monday in a victory over Dakota.

Other Ex-Rebels:

Kaspars Kambala had his playoffs end Sunday when he scored 8 points and grabbed 2 rebounds for Krasnoyarsk in a 97-70 loss to Russian Superleague A power CSKA Moscow.

Moscow finished off the best-of-three quarterfinal series in two games. CSKA went 22-0 during the regular season. Krasnoyarsk, 8-14 during the regular season, was the eighth-seeded team in the Russian playoffs.

The seasons of Wendell White and Odartey Blankson ended last week in South Korea.

White's Dongbu Promy squad was eliminated from the semifinals by KCC Egis last Thursday. White averaged 21.1 points and 6 rebounds, shooting 59.9 percent from the field, in 46 games.

Blankson's Mobis Phoebus team was zapped from the semifinals last Monday by Samsung Thunders. In 36 games, Blankson averaged 15.8 points and 6.8 boards.
