UNLV 2009-10 hoops slate near completion with MWC dates announced

UNLV's 2009-10 men's basketball schedule is almost complete as the Mountain West Conference announced dates for this year's league schedule over the weekend.

The Rebels, who in the non-conference schedule will face Louisville, Arizona, Kansas State and appear in the Diamond Head Classic over Christmas, open the MWC season with a pair of road games.

Their Jan. 6 contest at BYU will appear on the Mtn. That is followed by a Saturday, Jan. 9 contest at New Mexico, which will be televised by Versus.

The home league opener, on either Jan. 12 or 13, will pit Lon Kruger's club against San Diego State on CBS College Sports.

In all, UNLV will play on television at least 18 times, with eight on the Mtn., five on CBSC and another five on Versus. Each conference game will be televised, which was not the case in 2008-09.

Last season, the Rebels started 5-2 in the Mountain West before finishing 9-7 in the league. They dropped their opener in the MWC tourney to San Diego State and bowed out of the NIT early with a first-round loss at Kentucky.

The Runnin’ Rebels will play on television at least 18 times this season, with eight on the Mtn., and five appearances each on CBS C and VERSUS. UNLV will have every game of its MWC schedule televised as well.
