NFL fans are in for one heck of an opening week, according to the Las Vegas odds.
Within an hour of the NFL releasing its 2014 schedule, the LVH Superbook posted betting lines for all 16 Week 1 games. The closely contested point spreads likely have all football enthusiasts salivating for the Sept. 4 start to the season, where the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks lay five points against the Packers.
The average line is just minus-4.5 for the entire Week 1 card, an entire point lower than the NFL average. Only one game — the Jaguars getting 11 points at the Eagles — has a spread of more than a touchdown.
Home teams are favored in 13 of the 16 matchups. The exceptions are the Panthers giving the Buccaneers two points, the Patriots laying 3.5 at the Dolphins and the 49ers coming in at minus-3.5 at the Cowboys.
The closest line belongs to an NFC South division rivalry, where the Falcons are minus-2 hosting the Saints.
