Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point.
Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.
Dallas Mavericks plus-4 against San Antonio Spurs: $330 to win $300
The basic logic here is that two of the three games this series have been close, and the only blowout was a Dallas win. With that recent history plus a general confidence in the Mavericks I like getting the home team with a few points.
I actually like the Spurs to win the next couple of games. And Game 5 in San Antonio on Wednesday may be a blowout in the home team’s favor. But the series isn’t there yet. Dallas has a chance to make things very interesting and tonight is the Mavs’ best chance to pull off the series upset.
Even if the Spurs are able to win, which I think they will, I like Dallas’ chances of keeping it close. Monta Ellis has been carrying the scoring load while Dirk Nowitzki rounds into form. The face that we haven’t yet seen the best from Nowitzki is a very good sign for Dallas.
Standings: Bern (21-16, $10,600), Keefer (18-19, $9,708), Brewer (14-20-3, $6,095)
