Vegas Play of the Day: Chicago Cubs at Colorado Rockies

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Chicago Cubs at Colorado Rockies under-10.5 runs (minus-115): $460 to win $400

It’s been a rough go for me in baseball lately, which is one reason I’m excited to have football back. Even if it’s just the preseason, I like my chances with those games better than on the diamond.

No football games today, though, so for now I’m stuck with baseball. The last couple of sides haven’t gone so well, so I went hunting for a total and came back with an extra-juiced under-10.5 runs in Colorado.

The Rockies’ totals have been high all season because they lead the National League in average (by 20 points) and runs scored. However, the Cubs balance that out with bottom-five numbers in both stat categories.

I think tonight it’s going to take both teams crossing the plate a few times to hit that number, and only one of them is going to be able to do it.
