Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.
Chicago Bears pick against Philadelphia Eagles: $330 to win $300
Preseason football is a time to bet with your heart, not your head, because it’s nearly impossible to tell how serious each team is going to take these games.
Both teams are coming in with second-year coaches who are likely going to give significant time to their backup quarterbacks. For the Eagles, that’s former USC Trojans Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley while the Bears are rolling with Jimmy Clausen and Jordan Palmer behind starter Jay Cutler.
There’s not much to get excited about among that foursome, but you always feel better betting against Sanchez than with him. I’m also interested to see former Arizona running back Ka’Deem Carey in his Chicago debut.
Standings: Bern (41-30-1, $13,424), Keefer (33-37, $9,192), Brewer (29-40-3, $2,915)
