Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.
Los Angeles Dodgers (-120) vs. New York Mets: $600 to win $500 : The Dodgers are in the middle of a pennant race and will give maximum effort. The Mets are playing out the season, losing seven of their last 10 games.
Even though Kevin Correia isn’t the strongest starter in the Los Angeles rotation, wagering on the Dodgers is still a wise decision because they are playing for something.
New York starter Bartolo Colon returns to the team after attending his mother’s funeral in the Dominican Republic. The veteran pitcher will either be exhausted from the travel or motivated to play in his mother’s honor. I’m guessing he’ll be emotionally drained.
Standings: Bern (43-33-1, $12,917), Keefer (37-39, $10,092), Brewer (30-43-3, $1,800)
