Vegas Play of the Day: Army vs. Navy

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Army plus-15 vs Navy: $550 to win $500 : Navy is clearly the better team in college football’s most storied rivalry game, winning the last 12 meetings. Navy should extend its streak, but the result will be closer than the Las Vegas point spread indicates.

Led by the one-two punch of running back Larry Dixon and quarterback Angel Santiago, Army has the nation’s sixth best rushing attack. Navy also runs the ball well, meaning the clock will be ticking all day. The shortened game favors Army bettors with a two-touchdown cushion.

Plus, it’s a rivalry game. Records, stats and past meetings don’t matter. Even if there are more than 100 past meetings for reference like Army-Navy.
