The Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point and $10,000 starting bankrolls, is here for one truly last-minute stocking stuffer.

If Santa Claus had room on the sleigh for one betting slip, here’s what he should have taken at the betting window.

Los Angeles Clippers minus-2.5 vs. Golden State Warriors: $330 to win $300

The Warriors have been the best team in the NBA by a sizable gap more than a third of the way through the season. But when all is said and done, the Clippers will be right there with them near the top of the western conference.

Los Angeles’ competitive franchise improved as the schedule stretched on last year, and with mostly the same roster, history should repeat this season. And what better place for the improvement to start than a primetime Christmas game?

Golden State has hung around Los Angeles for the last two days after a stunning 10-point loss to the city’s lesser team. The Warriors shot poorly and played shoddy defense, which won’t work against the Clippers.

The Clippers aren’t exactly on a roll. They’ve lost three of their last four, failing to cover in five straight.

But two of the losses were by three points apiece with the third a seven-point margin. They’re troubles are over-exaggerated, creating a morsel of value in the marketplace.

The Clippers have faced a tougher schedule than the Warriors, and all-in-all, fared just fine. They’re more than capable of overwhelming anyone in the league at home.

Standings: Bern (59-52-1, $10,926), Keefer (54-60-2, $8,027), Brewer (53-57-3, $6,055)
