Vegas Play of the Day: Seton Hall at Villanova

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point.

Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Villanova minus-12.5 vs. Seton Hall: $330 to win $300

This is one of only two games featuring a ranked team today, and the other one is the team that shot Villanova out of the gym a couple of weeks ago. With the exception of that bizarre 28-point loss to Creighton on Jan. 20, when the Jays hit seemingly every 3-pointer they attempted, it’s been a great stretch for the Wildcats, both in the real world and against the spread.

They’re 7-2 in their last nine ATS, and in one of those losses they won by five as a six-point favorite. Hardly a bad loss for bettors there.

Now they get to host Seton Hall, the same team Villanova beat by 16 on the road a month ago. Since then the Pirates have had a very up-and-down schedule, including last Saturday’s eight-point road win as an eight-point underdog at Xavier. Still, there’s no doubt which one is the better team and the Wildcats are playing pretty well right now, too. As long as they come out focused then my main concern is a backdoor cover.
