Our Talking Points blog is offering a daily sports betting pick against the point spread using odds from the South Point.
Unfortunately, I’m still looking for my first win in the contest we started last week. We started with a fictional bankroll of $10,000; I’m now under 9,000. Thankfully, this is just for fun.
Here’s today’s pick.
Toronto Raptors minus-2 against Minnesota Timberwolves: $330 to win $300 : It’s been a tough week with much travel for Minnesota — Monday they scored just 86 points in losing at San Antonio; Wednesday they lost straight up as six-point favorites at home against Sacramento. Now, they are back on the road at Toronto, which is 7-3 in last 10 games and always plays tough at home in the Air Canada Centre. And, Toronto covered 10 straight games before losing Wednesday to Boston.
While Minnesota will have a strong advantage on the inside with all-star Kevin Love, Toronto will win this game because of its backcourt. Toronto small forward DeMar DeRozan has become one of the Eastern Conference’s most consistent players and point guard Kyle Lowry is averaging 18.7 points and 8.3 assists per game over Toronto’s last 10 games — they are 9-1.
Standings: Bern (1-2, $9,430), Brewer, Keefer (1-3, $9,175), (0-2-1, $8,990)
