We’re on a three-game handicapping winning streak.
Our Talking Points blog is offering a daily sports betting pick against the point spread using odds from the South Point. The Sun’s three sports writers rotate with making the selections, picking up steam over the weekend — I hit a NBA game, Taylor Bern was on the right side a NCAA basketball game and Case Keefer was on the Broncos Sunday in the AFC Championship game.
Let’s see if I can continue the winning ways.
Maryland plus-2 at North Carolina State: $220 to win $200
NC State has lost four of its last five games, including a 31-point home loss to Virginia and being destroyed Saturday at Duke.
T.J. Warren averages about 20 points per game for the Wolf Pack and will surely score in double-figures against Maryland. After Warren, however, the Wolf Pack have just one scorer averaging in double figures.
Maryland has struggled at point guard all season, but sophomore Seth Allen appears to have started to figure it out. In a win against Notre Dame last week, he had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists with no turnovers in 27 minutes.
It should be a close game — hence the tight point spread — but my calculations have Maryland winning by at least seven points.
Standings: Bern (2-2, $9,830), Keefer (2-3, $9,475) , Brewer (1-2-1, $9,290)
