Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.
San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers under 6 runs: $660 to win $600
After two straight soccer victories, I’d love to return to the pitch, but the World Cup is off for a couple of days. That means I’m returning to my old friend, the Padres under.
I’ve been asleep at the wheel lately, because it was only in doing research for today’s game that I realized all three games in the Padres-Colorado Rockies series the past three days had totals of at least 10. And guess what? They all went under.
Those are absurd numbers, even with Colorado leading the league in runs scored. That’s how bad the Padres’ offense has been.
Overall, the under is 17-5-1 lately, which gives me confidence, even though today’s number is back down to the standard six. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the Dodgers are throwing Clayton Kershaw, who could do more than flirt with a no-hitter.
Standings: Bern (35-24-1, $12,979), Keefer (29-34, $8,926), Brewer (23-36-3, $2,385)
