Vegas Play of the Day: White Sox at Indians

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Cleveland Indians (-1.5, -110) vs. Chicago White Sox: $440 to win $400 : Residents of Cleveland and in Northeast Ohio are feeling pretty good about themselves after LeBron James announced today he’s returning to the Cavs. Here’s hoping some of those fans pack Progressive Field tonight in celebration to root on the Indians.

It’s risky playing any game on the run line, meaning you need to win by at least two runs to cash a ticket. But Cleveland starter Corey Kluber has been great most of the season, striking out 137 batters in 125.2 innings and becoming one of the best in the American League.

Against a White Sox team that frequently strikes out, it’s not too far-fetched to assume Kluber will have a great game. In 23 innings over his past three starts, Kluber has surrendered just three runs.

In the other dugout, Chicago starter Hector Noesi has a 4.90 earned run average, giving up 11 home runs in 82.2 innings this season.

Cleveland should get to Noesi. The celebration will continue.

Standings: Bern (36-24-1, $13,579), Keefer (29-34, $8,926), Brewer (23-36-3, $2,385)
