Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.
Pittsburgh Pirates (-105) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers: $530 to win $500 Pittsburgh is on a three-game winning streak after the all-star break and at 32-20 has one of baseball’s best home records. While the Pirates have a losing record on the road, they took 3 of 4 games at Los Angeles earlier this season. Plain and simple, they have the Dodgers’ number.
The Dodgers are banged up, too. Yasiel Puig and Hanley Ramirez both have hand injuries after being hit by pitches over the weekend against St. Louis. Both are questionable.
Also, the Dodgers played a night game last night in St. Louis, not arriving in Pittsburgh until the wee hours of the morning. They’ll be tired. Let the Pirates domination continue.
Standings: Bern (38-25-1, $14,119), Keefer (31-36, $8,946), Brewer (26-36-3, $3,585)
