Vegas Play of the Day: Nationals at Reds

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Washington Nationals (-105) and Cincinnati Reds: $425 to win $400 Nationals starter Doug Fister has won his past three starts and has a respectable 2.92 ERA this season.

The Reds are one of the worst offensive teams in baseball, managing to score just once in the initial two games of the series. For the season, Cincinnati ranks 28th in baseball in runs scored and 25th in batting average. They’ll struggle against a quality pitcher in Fister.

Don’t expect much from Cincinnati starter Mat Latos, who threw 104 pitches Monday in a loss to Milwaukee. It was Latos’ seventh start of the season, meaning his stamina will be in question against the Nationals.

Standings: Bern (40-26-1, $14,634), Keefer (32-36, $9,146), Brewer (27-37-3, $3,555)
