Vegas Play of the Day: Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres under-6.5 at minus-105: $420 to win $400

Padres under has been a winner most of the season because San Diego ranks last in the National League in runs, batting average and OPS. Five of the Padres' past seven games have gone under, and that’s been a consistent trend this year.

If it weren’t for the NBA Finals, I probably would have played Padres games before now because this trend doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon.

Obviously, in one game, anything can happen. But if you stick with a good pattern long enough, the results should be profitable over the long haul. And with Josh Beckett on the mound for the Dodgers tonight, I’m hoping I don’t have to wait.
