Vegas Play of the Day: Reds at Chicago Cubs

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Cincinnati Reds +100 at Chicago Cubs: $500 to win $500 The Reds have won nine of their last 12 games, finally fielding a healthy roster and starting to resemble a team expected to make a playoff push in the home stretch of the season.

Cincinnati starter Homer Bailey hasn’t lived up the expectations of the $100 million contract he signed in the offseason, but he sure resembled an elite pitcher in his lone outing against Chicago this season. On April 20, he pitched six scoreless innings against the Cubs with eight strikeouts.

I watched the Cubs in person three straight days last week. They have two players capable of doing damage in Anthony Rizzo and Starlin Castro. And while the Cubs have blossomed into one of baseball’s better teams the past four weeks, they’ve dropped three straight games.

Standings: Bern (33-23-1, $12,479), Keefer (26-32, $8,074), Brewer (21-29-3, $4,925)
