Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point..
Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.
Delaware minus-4 vs. William & Mary in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship game: $770 to win $700 I love the Fightin’ Blue Hens in this spot. It could be my play of the college basketball season.
Delaware is the top seed in the Colonial Athletic Association tournament and twice this season has beaten William & Mary, including by 17 points on the road.
William & Mary is playing for its first NCAA Tournament berth in school history. It won’t happen — Delaware is the better team, and a team I’ll pick next week to pull off an upset in the NCAAs.
During the preseason, Delaware lost by just four points to Villanova, which could be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Delaware also had close defeats against Ohio State and Notre Dame, grabbing experience against big-time competition for the sole purpose of doing something memorable in the postseason. That starts tonight with a convincing win to cover the spread.
Delaware scores nearly 80 points per game, and senior guards Devon Saddler and Davon Usher each nearly score 20 points per game. I love betting college basketball teams during tournament time with experienced guard play. Love it even more when they are seniors. The legacy of Usher and Saddler will be defined by what happens tonight.
Standings: Bern (14-8, $11,240), Keefer (10-10, $9,367), Brewer (6-11-3, $6,760)
