Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.
Toronto Blue Jays (-110) vs. Los Angeles Angels, $330 to win $300: Toronto starter Mark Buehrle has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, bringing the major league’s best record (6-1) and earned run average (1.91) into today’s start. It comes at a perfect time for the Blue Jays, who are looking to avoid the four-game sweep against the Angels.
Two of Toronto’s three defeats in the series have been close. The Blue Jays are due for a breakthrough, especially against an Angels’ squad piecing its outfield lineup together. It got so bad for Los Angeles that it promoted former UNLV player Efren Navarro, a career minor leaguer, for the series.
Toronto has scored just nine runs in the series. I can’t imagine its high-scoring offense being grounded much longer.
Standings: Bern (23-16-1, $11,500), Keefer (19-25, $7,528), Brewer (17-22-3, $7,070)
