Vegas Play of the Day: Brooklyn Nets at Miami Heat

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Miami Heat minus-7 against Brooklyn Nets: $550 to win $500

When Miami wins in this postseason, which has been all but once, it almost always covers, too. The Heat is now 7-1 in the playoffs and 6-2 against the spread.

That, plus the likelihood that Heat players not named LeBron James will play a little better than the last time out, is enough to ride the hot hand.

Even though we’ve seen plenty of close games and underdogs winning outright, I’d be surprised if this series goes back to Brooklyn. The question is whether Miami will get out in front enough to cover.

I’m confident Miami will because a mini-run in the fourth quarter could be enough to break the Nets’ back. They know they’re not going to win this series. If they see the end coming, better to just accept it.
