The two NFL teams currently possessing the lead in the race for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs encounter significant tests in Week 12.
Sports books around Las Vegas, including CG Technologies, released opening lines for next weekend’s games in both college football and the NFL Sunday night. While Saturday may look short on blockbuster matchups, that doesn’t extend to Sunday.
The team with the NFL’s best record, the NFC-leading Arizona Cardinals (9-1 straight-up, 8-2 against the spread), has their toughest remaining game, according to the odds. They travel to take on NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks (6-4 straight-up, 4-6 against the spread) as a 6.5-point underdog next Sunday afternoon.
In a morning kickoff, the Cardinals’ counterpart with the AFC’s best record takes on the team they just beat. The New England Patriots (7-2 straight-up, 5-4 against the spread going into tonight’s Sunday Night Football) gives 6.5 points at home to the Detroit Lions (7-3 straight-up, 5-5 against the spread).
The NFC North leading Lions lost at the Cardinals 14-6 in a game that closed as a pick’em this afternoon.
Every contender is after Arizona and New England with six weeks to play in the regular season. Next Sunday will be another test of the two teams’ vulnerability.
