There’s no other choice but to look to football for the South Point-lined Play of the Day, which started with $10,000 bankrolls, on Thanksgiving.

Picking against the Cowboys is a national tradition too, right?

Philadelphia Eagles plus-3.5 at Dallas Cowboys: $660 to win $600

The hook makes Philadelphia the play. Given the opportunity, there’s an off chance I could be convinced that the Cowboys and Eagles are evenly matched.

There’s no way I’d concede that the Cowboys are the better team. The Eagles have outscored opponents by 15 more points than the Cowboys this season despite more significant injuries, and rate two spots ahead of their NFC East division rivals in Football Outsiders’ DVOA.

A field goal line already sounds iffy. Adding an extra half-point looks straight unreasonable.

The Eagles never would have gotten this many points as recently as three weeks ago, when Mark Sanchez was still being regarded as the perfect triggerman for Chip Kelly’s offense. One poor performance later at Green Bay, a unforgivable site for an off-day, and we’re back to butt-fumble and Sanchise quips.

That’s short-sighted considering Sanchez, on the whole, has been serviceable and led the Eagles to covers in each of his other three games. Turnovers remain a problem, but his quarterback-rating is five points higher than predecessor Nick Foles posted.

AT&T Stadium has long been considered a venue with no home-field advantage, and that’s holding up even in a season where the Cowboys are playing their best in years. They’re just 2-4 against the spread at home including two straight outright losses.

It’s not a place where I’d give more than a field goal against another strong team.
