Los Angeles Angels Albert Pujols, right, is congratulated by teammate Mike Trout, left, after hitting a three-run homer off Washington Nationals starting pitcher Taylor Jordan during the first inning of a baseball game in Washington, Tuesday, April 22, 2014. It was Pujols 499th home run of his career. Later in the game, Pujols added his 500th-career home run.

The Tuesday night Sun Belt college specials can’t come soon enough.

It will be nice to have those college football matchups available for the midweek Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point and a starting $10,000 bankroll, but those games are still a month away. So it’s back to baseball for now.

Seattle Mariners plus-115 at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim: $260 to win $299

If there were ever a time to pick against the best team in baseball, now would be it. The Angels have performed extraordinary this season, both on the diamond and at the betting window.

If a bettor had placed a $100 wager on the Angels in every game this season, they’d now be up $2,659. The only team that’s been more profitable is the Baltimore Orioles, which have won four fewer games.

Los Angeles has really picked up its moneymaking pace of late, going 11-1 in its last 12 games to clinch a playoff appearance for the first time in five years. That’s exactly why tonight is the moment to jump off of the Angels.

Los Angeles celebrated wildly after beating Seattle 8-1 some 19 hours before tonight’s first pitch. The scenes on television looked raucous enough, but the festivities likely stretched a little longer after the game, too.

A sluggish performance seems inevitable, particularly with Cory Rasmus on the mound. Angels manager Mike Scioscia plucked Rasmus out of the bullpen for the start after losing Garrett Richards for the season.

Seattle counters with Roenis Elias, who has pitched well over the last couple months. The celebration ends tonight.

Standings: Bern (45-36-1, $12,637), Keefer (41-43, $10,282), Brewer (36-45-3, $4,125)
